FUNCTION:
Beta Glucan stimulates the Langerhans cells (the skin’s inbuilt immune system) to activate the macrophages (white blood cells which fight invaders) within the dermis. Once activated, the macrophages release a series of compounds that stimulate the fibroblast cells to produce collagen and elastin. Vitamin C is used by the fibroblast cell in the production of collagen, and acts as an antioxidant and free radical scavenger to protect the skin.
