What is Microneedling Radiofrequency?

Microneedling RF (Radiofrequency) is a cosmetic procedure that combines two techniques: microneedling and radiofrequency energy. Microneedling itself involves using a device with tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries stimulate the skin’s natural healing response, triggering the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for maintaining youthful and healthy skin.

In microneedling RF, radiofrequency energy is delivered to the deeper layers of the skin through the micro-injuries created by the needles. The radiofrequency energy heats the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production further, while also providing additional tightening and rejuvenation effects.

What is happening during Microneedling RF treatment?

Before The Procedure

A topical anesthetic is applied for 30 minute. That helps to numb the area and to reduce any pain that might be felt during the treatment.

During The Procedure

A practitioner uses a sterilized disposable Microneedling tool that contains tiny golden needles. Once the procedure begins, an aesthetician runs the tool evenly across the skin to create tiny holes in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin.

After The Procedure

A cooling gel Aloe Vera mask is applied to help calm the skin and reduce inflammation and redness.

There’s no necessary downtime. You may notice some redness and some minor skin irritation for 1 to 3 days after the procedure, but this is generally nothing to worry about and should pass as your skin heals.

It takes time for the formation of new collagen. You’ll typically have to wait 2 to 6 weeks between sessions to allow the skin to repair itself. After the first session you will see noticeable results.

Frequently Asking Questions:

Although most patients begin to see results after the first procedure, you can safely repeat the treatment several times. Collagen induction requires at least 3 sessions, while scar reduction typically requires 3-6 sessions, again depending on your body’s individual response to the treatment. Once the therapy is completed, the new collagen will last for months, that’s why microneedling is considered a long-lasting treatment.
While the idea of being punctured with hundreds of tiny needles may sound like a real torture, microneedling is a virtually painless process. The lidocaine cream applied to the skin before the procedure effectively numbs the skin, and most patients report just a slight tingling sensation during the treatment.
Absolutely! Microneedling is a safe and effective treatment for virtually any skin type and color. This is because it is a non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure which doesn’t involve any harsh chemicals or light-based therapy.

Most patients will see significant results with a series of 3 treatments, spaced about two to four weeks apart. The number of treatments will depend on how well the patient responds to the treatment and the severity of their skin issues.
But you will see results right after the first treatment.

Your skin may look flushed right after the treatment. However, most of the redness will resolve by the next day. The treated skin should be kept clean and not washed until the following day. The treatment area may feel slightly rough like sandpaper for 1-3 days.

There is little to no discomfort after the procedure and you can typically return to regular activities within a few hours .

You can wear makeup 24 hours after the procedure.

We recommend that you take the evening off from social activities on the day of the treatment. You should feel comfortable to return to normal social activities no later than 24 hours post-treatment, without anyone knowing you’ve had a procedure.

RF is essentially electrical energy. In aesthetic medicine, RF technology is used to gently and safely heat the skin. Heating the dermis to approximately 60 degrees Celsius initiates new collagen and elastin formation to visibly tighten the skin. Most radiofrequency technologies use monopolar or bipolar polarity. In monopolar devices, a grounding pad must be applied to the patient.
